Immersion en Nature et savoir-faire ancestraux en Aveyron

My name is Cédric Niqueux after my father Pierre Niqueux or Cédric Eymery after my mother Francine Eymery!
I first followed a very academic path, until I obtained the aggregation in mathematics.
Teaching is a vocation for me, but these years immersed in abstraction have left me with a thirst for the concrete, for anchoring, for a connection with the living.
So one day, I left everything behind. With a ticket to the Pacific in my pocket, I went to live in New Caledonia, on the island of Drehu (Lifou, one of the Loyalty Islands), in Kanak land. There, I discovered another way of living: fishing in the lagoon, growing yams, building traditional huts, singing in the Kanak language, and above all, living in a community, in harmony with nature. For 15 years, this immersion transformed my relationship with the world, with others and with myself.
In 2018, back in France, I felt the desire to transmit this deep connection with nature and its resources. I started to lead reconnection workshops and walks, through essential know-how: wild picking, basketry, ancestral fire, natural crafts….
Now based in Aveyron, I share these practices with anyone who wants to slow down, experiment and rediscover a form of joyful autonomy.
I like to continue to bear the Kanak first name Umun, diminutive of "Umuneisi" "the one who stops the war". This first name, given by my friend Cawan, accompanies my vision of the world: that of a Guardian of the Earth, seeking to align his gestures in the garden and in nature with his inner states, and to transmit another way of seeing, of being, of creating.
If these words resonate with you, then I invite you to share a moment in nature… and rediscover all that it has to offer.
A souvenir from Kanaky!
